Ellen Van Dusen started her clothing line Dusen Dusen in April of 2009, sewing everything by hand and selling at a boutique in the Manhattan. After selling out 7 orders in a matter of 4 months, she decided to take the line a little more seriously. She left her job and made the line a full time gig. She amped up production for Spring of 2010 and began working with stores nationally and internationally.
Ellen went to school at Tufts University where she studied a major of her own creation, called the Psychology of Design. She wanted to learn about why certain images become successful while others fall to the wayside, so she studied the brain's response to imagery. Ellen used the principles of what she learned in the creation of her thesis collection, which was the catalyst of everything she has been doing since then. The line is a sort of representation of her life in New York: bright colors, crazy patterns, a lot to look at.
And I'm absolutely in love with this collection (the zip dresses!) it looks basic, original and eccentric at the same time. Here is Dusen Dusen's online store.

Ciao Cara!
